Makaton identity
MultiAdaptor
Paul Felton:

The Makaton language programme combines speech and signing, to help people with learning or speaking difficulties. MultiAdaptor have re-branded the programme with an aim of ‘Giving everyone a voice’. The symbol combines speaking and signing in one clever little icon, with a hidden speech bubble created between the thumb and forefinger. It’s a logo that anyone can sign, whether they know Makaton or not. The wider identity uses playful language, warm photography and a vibrant colour palette?

Carpenters Wharf
Jack Renwick Studio
Paul Felton:

Jack Renwick Studio have created a new visual identity for the Carpenters Wharf development on Fish Island in Hackney. For 50 years the site played home to A. Younger, a luxury furniture maker, who shipped timber down the canals to use in their designs. Wood and timber form the inspiration for the name and striking typography. The logo itself cleverly combines a ‘C’ and a fish symbol with the use of a dovetail joint.

Message from the Unseen World
United Visual Artists, Futurity, Nick Drake
Paul Felton:

The underside of Bishop’s Bridge Road, near Paddington, hosts a moving tribute to pioneering mathematician, code-breaker and father of computer science — Alan Turing, entitled Message from the Unseen World. The text is a poem by poet and playwright Nick Drake which sees Turing speaking posthumously about his life, complete with coded versions of extracts from Turing’s text that disintegrate and fracture as new words replace the previous ones.

Agatha Christie stamps
Studio Sutherl& Neil Webb
Paul Felton:

Royal Mail have released a set of six commemorative stamps to mark the centenary of Agatha Christie writing her first detective story. The stamps, designed by Studio Sutherl& and illustrated by Neil Webb, depict a complex plot in one single frame, together with hidden clues only revealed with UV light, heat, in negative space or by using a magnifying glass.

D.R.A.W identity
Supple Studio
Paul Felton:

This new identity from Supple Studio is a masterclass in the art of combination. D.R.A.W is the result of the merger of two of the most respected recruitment agencies in the global art market.

The identity is a combination of a clever interlocking monogram, great copy and a beautiful series of three dimensional interpretations of the logo. The variety of materials used in the interlocking components suggest the scope of experience – from traditional to contemporary.

Laura Knox Identity
Ragged Edge
Paul Felton:

A nice new identity from Ragged Edge for drinks photographer Laura Knox with a clever, simple marque at it’s heart. Laura’s initials are cleverly abstracted to create the mirror and prism cross section of a SLR camera.

Designers’ Friend
Paul Belford
Paul Felton:

A stunningly simple new identity for web developers, Designers’ Friend by Paul Belford. Built around the line ‘we write code’, the identity is a lovely observation that the ‘D’ and ‘F’ keys are conveniently located next to each other on a coders main tool — the keyboard.

The Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau identity
Graphéine
Paul Felton:

A lesson in how craft can turn what could have easily been a clichéd application of a well known landmark into a wonderful piece of design. The hero of the new identity by Graphéine for the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau is a striking, minimalist typogram that in application, is used as ‘window on Paris’ to hold lovely Parisian illustrations by Séverin Millet. Magnifique!
