The Battery
Ken Folk
JP Stallard:

Based on the idea of a English village pub, founders Michael & Xochi Birch worked with Ken Fulk to create their ideal place for people to meet, relax, and become a ‘local’.

Welcoming from the moment you walk in, The Battery is a 58,000-square-foot club across five floors, and contains a restaurant, four bars, a wine cellar, a coffee bar, a library, a gym and spa, an outdoor garden and 14 hotel rooms, including a penthouse suite with views of the Transamerica Pyramid and the Bay Bridge.

An illustrated response by Mads Jakob Poulsen to the gun control debate in the United States. He accompanies it with a well articulated article.

D.R.A.W identity
Supple Studio
Paul Felton:

This new identity from Supple Studio is a masterclass in the art of combination. D.R.A.W is the result of the merger of two of the most respected recruitment agencies in the global art market.

The identity is a combination of a clever interlocking monogram, great copy and a beautiful series of three dimensional interpretations of the logo. The variety of materials used in the interlocking components suggest the scope of experience – from traditional to contemporary.

The Emperor’s Quest – Chinese Garden App
The Nest, a part of Frost*collective
Vince Frost:

The App created by The Nest, for Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority takes families on a fascinating journey into the ancient world of Chinese Zodiac, whilst roaming the Chinese garden in Darling Harbour – Sydney.

Australian Design Radio
Christopher Doyle & Co.
Rob Duncan:

Really lovely identity for Australia Design Radio by Christopher Doyle & Co. The shape of Australia is represented by the visual language of graphic equalizers. When the radio station is on-air then the graphic equalizer moves, then returns to the shape of the continent when off-air. Simple, clever and beautifully crafted. Definitely want one of those T-shirts.

Hepworth Wakefield x Alex Sickling

Alex Swatridge:

A charming collaboration between Hepworth Wakefield and Alex Sickling, where Alex has faithfully captured the simplicity and beauty of Barbara’s work in a modern way.

Laura Knox Identity
Ragged Edge
Paul Felton:

A nice new identity from Ragged Edge for drinks photographer Laura Knox with a clever, simple marque at it’s heart. Laura’s initials are cleverly abstracted to create the mirror and prism cross section of a SLR camera.

Silo Theatre 2016
Luke Robertson:

New Zealand’s Best Awards have announced their finalists for 2016. As always it’s an impressive showcase covering graphic, interactive, product and spatial design.

Alt Group’s identity for Silo Theatre takes center stage in their latest campaign.
