Sydney Opera House
Interbrand Sydney
Rob Duncan:

Beautifully crafted idea by Interbrand Sydney for the Sydney Opera House. Sail shaped blends interacting with photography and 3D typography all reference back to the iconic shape of the building. It’s a superb brand language  working cohesively with the lovely symbol. So unique and ownable by this particular Opera House. More images and motion graphics can be seen here on Interbrand’s site.

Faraday Future
Rob Duncan:

We all know a brand isn’t just a great logo. But in my opinion every brand still needs a great logo. This one really caught my eye recently. Beautifully clever and simple, two letter ‘Fs’ creating a forward arrow. It looks fantastic on the car. Designed in-house by Bryce Shawcross. Great work, looking forward to seeing much more from this company in the near future. Would love to take this car for a spin too.

Tea Towels
Peter Saville
Rob Duncan:

Everyone needs tea towels. These are particularly nice. Designed by Peter Saville for House of Voltaire, each design is derived from food packaging print and construction marks. Clever and effective idea, Peter has been collecting these marks since the mid 1980’s.

Coca Cola
Turner Duckworth
Rob Duncan:

Witty ideas, clever solutions, playing with negative space is hard to do. Even harder is convincing clients to go in this direction. 50% of being a designer is being able to solve problems creatively for clients. The other 50% is being able to sell that solution. Turner Duckworth not only managed to create such a clever, distinctive identity for Coca Cola but they managed to sell in through a huge corporation. To me that’s what makes this project extra special.

VBMS
Studio Dumbar
Rob Duncan:

VSMC (Visser & Smith Marine Contracting) is the European market leader in offshore power cable installation, creating grid-to-grid connections for offshore wind farms and other facilities. Bold, strong, sophisticated typography with a distinctive ‘M’ dipping beneath the baseline cleverly hints at what the company does.

Alzheimer Nederland
Studio Dumbar
Rob Duncan:

Simple, effective typographic solution for a complicated condition. The vanishing typography visualizes the effects of dementia, while some patients and carers see them as a source of light and hope.

Qantas Safety Video
Qantas & Tourism Australia
Rob Duncan:

Inflight safety videos have been boring for years. The mold was really broken when Virgin Atlantic used fun animations and more recently when Virgin America turned their safety video into a music video. However, this is a clever, completely different idea from Qantas. This could easily have turned into an over emotional start-up type video but it feels very real, sincere and honest. A great reflection of the spirit of the Australian people as well as their country.

Soap Co.
Paul Belford Ltd
Rob Duncan:

The Soap Co. produce luxury soaps, hand washes and hand lotions. They employ people who are blind. Paul Belford Ltd created a beautifully crafted solution, nicely referencing the size of the dot under Co. to create the braille.
